Girl guides are back in town

-

Hundreds of girl guides descended upon Ayr last month as they toured the town as part of their first post-Covid event.

Almost 500 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers of the Girlguiding Ayrshire South County explored activities stationed around the town, including circus skills, archery, a silent disco, dancing, campfire signing, meditation and more. The girls stamped off their‘passports’at each stop along the route, with activities at the Carnegie Library, Newton Wallacetown Church, Ayrshire Women’Hub, Ayr Central, Ayr Auld Kirk, The Mercure Hotel, Holy Trinity

Church, and a closing ceremony at the Low Green. The girls even got a history lesson and they visited the Town Hall cells. The team would like to thank all of the activity providers who came along to support the event, including The Royal Navy, The Little Art School, FIB Youth Theatre, Harmonise Yoga, Ayr Archery Club, and others.

They would also like to thank all those who donated their time or resources to the event including GAB Audio Engineers, The Co-op, ASDA, Tesco, Tunnock’s and Morrison’s.
