After 16 days in hospital, I am recovering
At home
As many will now know, at the end of March I ended up in St Thomas’ Hospital in London, after a serious fall at Parliament.
This resulted in a complex fracture of my femur and an emergency five-hour operation, under local anaesthetic.
I was unable to have a general anaesthetic due to also testing positive, again, for Covid.
After 16 days in hospital, I am pleased to say that I am now recovering back home in Ayr.
However, there will be a period of time, while I recover, that I will not be able to attend Parliament physically but will, wherever possible, carry out planned constituency visits and surgeries, even if I am still on crutches!
I hope to be recovered sufficiently to be able, as a Member of the Privileges Committee, appointed by Parliament, to take part in the current investigation into the actions of the
Prime Minister which have been referred to the Committee.
Local business in the area may be interested in attending the upcoming Ayrshire Growth Deal virtual information sessions on 16th and 20th May.
This is your chance to learn about what the deal means for you, and how you can benefit from it. To reserve a space, visit the website: https://www. ayrshire-chamber.org/events/ chamber-events.
As this is my last column before the Scottish Council Elections on May 5, please remember to get out and vote, if you have not already done a postal vote. Irrespective of who you choose to vote for, your vote counts and it is vital that your voice is represented in local government, to shape key decisions for the local areas, South and East Ayrshire.
As your MP, I will continue, alongside my team, to provide support and assistance to constituents.
Please still get in touch with me if you have an enquiry or concern by telephone on 01292 848102 or by email at allan.dorans.mp@parliament.
