Thought for the week..

- Compiled by Irene Howat

The pressure is on our young folk just now as they race along the last lap before their school exams and what a hard time it is for them, especially this year.

Teachers encourage their pupils to stretch themselves to the limit so that they achieve their best. And parents find themselves acting as policemen, checking that the books that are open are school books, and that the television or computer game isn’t on every waking hour of the day. Exams don’t stop when we leave formal education. The Bible sets an exam for each one of us.‘Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourself.’

And if we pass that exam we are assured, not of a place in university, but of a place for all eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Everyone who trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins is heading homeward, and their home is in heaven. (see 2 Corinthians 13:5)
