Childcare worker Steven Chapman has been struck off for threatening to “ragdoll” a 13-year-old boy in his care.

Yvonne McEwan

It is a worry children are placed here for various reasons and not all because the child has behavioural problems some are removed from their own home for their safety to be looked after by professionals.

Who can control their own behaviour and remain calm at all times. This makes me sick to think of a child already under stress being abused because that’s what it is- abuse.

Care at home worker Tia Rochester was struck off after taking £10 from a patient’s purse without their permission.

Steffi Notrom

Doesn’t matter how much. Never steal from those in your care.

Jayne McMillan

Awful

Owners of Ropes Bar in Harbour Road, Maidens, have been granted permission to undergo a makeover of their restaurant with the erection of a canopy and glazed screens at the rear of the property.

Elaine King

Love Maidens, and this a prefect spot to enjoy a lunch looking over the village. Good luck.

Garry Allan

Great place to eat and the canopy will certainly help in all kinds of weather.

Jacqui Dangor

I’m sure it will be professional. From public toilets to the amazing transformation, it has already undergone, it is an asset to a seaside village. The owners have worked really hard to establish a small business that is an amazing transformation that can only be positive to a small beautiful village.

Christine Harris

We were at Ropes recently and enjoyed sitting outside (with our dog) as it was a glorious day. Can see that a canopy and glazing will be great protection against the elements, but keeping fingers crossed dogs will still be allowed.

Gillian Hume

Brilliant news, fabulous place to eat and the canopy will be a great addition in the less favourable weather condition.

Tributes were paid to an Ayr United stalwart Joe ‘Jofus’ Lumsden who died, age 60.

Wilma Armstrong

Lovely guy, thoughts are with his brothers Brian and Billy.

Kay Dunn Brown

Joe was a gentle kind person, will be sorely missed xxxx

Iain Mccrae

I remember Joe when he lived in Dalmellington Road. RIP Joe.

Major marine works to allow the Arran ferry to operate out of Troon have been completed

Alison Masterson

Need to keep eye on that, remember Troon have tried to get the ferry going there permanently but there were protests from foot passengers with distance from the town to ferry.

South Ayrshire was named in Scotland’s top10 dangerous areas for drivers.

Gail Milligan

That doesn’t surprise me, driving is mental these days driving too fast, roundabouts and traffic lights. People always rushing and going round in the wrong lanes etc.

Heather Steele

No such thing is dangerous roads just bad maintenance and bad drivers.

Caitlin Young

I thought it was going to be the Dalry to Kilbirnie road. That road is awful.

The Conservative Group in South Ayrshire have pledged to save the high flats in Ayr if they win next week’s council elections. Lynn Jackson

The cladding on these flats is not safe. The flats are cold and not energy efficient.

Also in a fire the lifts can’t be used meaning the most vulnerable with mobility issues are trapped upstairs.

Most of the residents have been put into new flats which have suitable wet rooms and energy efficient. The Tories would just cause another housing problem. They are condemned for a reason.

Paul Cairns

Ayr, the town that just can’t move on. High-rise flats have had their day, move with the times and knock them down.

This is nothing more than a cynical attempt at winning votes - when have the Tories ever cared about social housing?

Ritchie Milla

Why do they have to come down, most folk didn’t want to leave them in the first place.
