Tories vow to make some real changes
Martin Dowey Leader South Ayrshire Conservative Group
On Thursday the choice in this election is clear.
You can vote for the same SNP Labour coalition of chaos that has achieved nothing in the last five years, except force through a new leisure centre in Alloway Street, Ayr, that no one wants... decide to demolish the Riverside flats that – contrary to the SNP scaremongering election leaflets – are not dangerous, destroying a close-knit community in the process... or our vision for South Ayrshire which focuses on local issues in this local election.
In our fully costed manifesto we will cancel the demolition of the Riverside flats and turn them into assisted living, cancel the white elephant leisure centre and invest the £45 million and rising price tag on the things that the people of South Ayrshire really want.
We will invest £6 million on Ayr Town Centre and Esplanade immediately, putting some pride back in the town and transforming the Esplanade.
We’ll invest £10 million on the Citadel which will pay for a much needed revamp, £1 million extra per year on our road infrastructure and introduce two hours’ free parking in Ayr with cars allowed back in the High Street.
We will transform the Hourstons building into council offices and open a museum on the ground floor, reintroduce dedicated cleaning teams to our towns and villages and invest £1 million per ward for community led programs.
Our golf courses that have been much neglected will receive much needed investment as will our public buildings.
This and more is only possible if you vote for your local Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidates tomorrow. Fully details of our manifesto can be found at www. southayrshireconservatives.org.uk.
