Gold star for kids care facility

A school care accommodat­ion service for children has been given favourable ratings by the Care Inspectora­te.

North Lodge House, in Adamton Estate, Monkton, was rated as‘very good’across five quality indicators.

North Lodge is registered to care for a maximum of five young people aged between eight and 18.

Children and young people’s wellbeing support was graded‘very good’while leadership at the lodge was also‘very good.’

And the team, setting of the service and quality of planned care and support, all received‘very good’ reviews.

Another element of the service which was put in the spotlight was its ability to provide enjoyable mealtime experience­s with the Care Inspectora­te noting that young people were provided with“healthy and nourishing”food choices and, in addition to their own mealtime preference­s, the service cook and staff offered“freshly cooked meals,” providing young people with new options to“broaden their experience­s.”

The report also adds:“There are very few areas for improvemen­t. Those that do exist will have minimal adverse impact on people’s experience­s and outcomes.”
