Rock on as choir coin it in

- ABI SMILLIE

A rock choir has coined in a whopping £1700 to support Ukrainian refugees.

Rock Choir Ayrshire put on a special end of term concert at Kay Park Parish Church & Halls in Kilmarnock to raise vital funds for charity‘Ayrshire Help for Ukraine’.

Singers from Ayr, Troon, Kilmarnock and Irvine performed a sold-out show and invited the community to make donations and take part in a raffle, raising £1,700 for the charity.

The money will support Ukrainian citizens arriving in Scotland and help send supplies and aid to those still in the country via Poland.

Local Rock Choir Leader, Lauren McGarrigle (pictured kneeling centre), said:“I am so delighted with the amount raised- £1700 from one performance is an incredible result!“The generosity of choir members and their families and friends never fails to amaze me.

“I am so proud to do the job that I do. My members make it so easy and such fun by giving me everything they have each week at rehearsals.

“Ending off the term with a sold-out performance where we can raise money for such an important cause is just the cherry on the top!”
