Bankies make it a first season to remember

Annbank United Community FC have celebrated their first season in the Ayrshire amateur leagues by winning the Division 2A title.

The crown was clinched with a 5-0 win away to Minishant in midweek with goals coming from

Scott Bates (2), Josh Alexander (2) and Yusuf Ulukus.

On Saturday, Bankies made it 16 league wins in a row when they beat Kilbride Thistle 9-1 with strikes from Dale McLelland (2), Tommy Sloan (2), Lee Sloan (2), Josh

Alexander, Bates and Euan Alexander.

In a glory season, the New Pebble Park club reached the quarterfin­als of the Scottish Amateur Cup before losing to Lesmahagow on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Bankies are back in action tonight when they face Kilwinning Rangers at Kilwinning Sports Club.

Meanwhile, Irvine Thistle won the Donsport Trophy, beating Dailly 3-2 in the final at the weekend.
