BABY BOOMERS
Meet the top prize-winners of Ayrshire Cute Kids contest
Meet Ayrshire’s cutest baby winner - adorable Arla Murray.
The bonnie one-year-old from Irvine scooped the grand prize in this year’s Ayrshire Cute Kids contest.
Proud mum Laura described the tot as a determined lass.
Born prematurely, Arla has always been a fighter and has battled her way to the £500 top prize against hundreds of other entries.
First-time mum Laura said: “We are just so proud of Arla, absolutely over the moon.
“Arla is just a wee firecracker and has been a determined wee girl since the day she was born. She was born prematurely at just 32 weeks.
“It was difficult enough, but Covid restrictions took its toll given that me and her dad William couldn’t see her at the same time, we had to go in separately.
“She was in the neonatal unit for three weeks after her birth.
“But she was determined and today we’re celebrating her first birthday.”
Laura spoke about her daughter’s best features.
She added: “Arla’s eyes are definitely one of her best features. Everyone who meets her comments on them.
“Arla’s eyes are just so big and the most lovely colour of sparkling brown and piercing.
“She looks the most like her dad.” Laura plans to put the £500 to good use by popping it into Arla’s bank account and the Murray family hopes to go on holiday to Lapland one day.
More than 300 of the region’s bonniest babies were entered into the Ayrshire Cute Kids 2022 competition.
In second place was Olivia Anderson, from South Ayrshire, who scooped £300. She was entered into the three to five-year-old category. And in third place, bagging £200 is Kallie Paton, from Kilmarnock, who was in the 0-9 month category.
Pictures of the Top 40 were published in April before the overall winners were revealed this week.
