Delighted to attend Maybole Fun Day
It seems that every time a Tory MP opens their mouth right now, they demonstrate how out of touch they are with the suffering of too many people across Scotland and the entire United Kingdom.
Lee Anderson MP’s disgusting remarks in the House of Commons that people use foodbanks because they can’t cook demonstrates the Tories are completely out of touch with those suffering from the cost of living crisis that they have created.
People have to go to food banks not because they cannot cook but because they do not have enough money to feed themselves and their children.
The Scottish Government is doing and will continue to do everything that it can to get money into the pockets of the lowest-income families across the country, and the Scottish child payment is the chief example of that. However, it is well past time that the Prime Minister, the Chancellor and the UK Government stood up, stepped up and took action to get money into the pockets of those who need it, to stop
people having to decide whether to heat their homes or feed their children.
Closer to home, I was delighted to attend Maybole’s Heritage Fun Day last Saturday, organised by the fantastic Town Centre Regeneration team. I look forward to getting the opportunity to attend many more community events across Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley over the next few months as we hopefully enjoy a much better summer then the previous few years.
My constituency team are on hand to assist with queries and with further easing of restrictions, I now have scheduled in person surgeries as well as continue to arrange phone or videocalls on request. Contact 01290 319126 or email elena.whitham.msp@ parliament.scot for more information.
