Talk of the town from our social media

-

Bodies will be dug up from their graves at Ayr Cemetery and could lie in a facility for at least four months.

Lesley Bletsoe Jnr

Still waiting for our letter telling us. We did find out last night through people who have theirs.

Mary Nicoll

Just shocking. Should never have been opened in the first place when the ground was so unstable. Lots of heads need to roll and lots of compensation paid out. I feel sorry for all the families concerned, this should not be happening.

Hazel Legget

Why was that ground not tested before they put any graves in there? LJ Given Truesdale

This is awful. Thinking of all the families xxx#

The SNP were expected form a minority administration in South Ayrshire following the local council elections .

Maggie S Bunnett

No not a good move . Can this not be stopped ?

Allan Legget

Just when you thought the town couldn’t get any worse.

The Smoking Goat in Ayr’s Academy Street was crowned Scotland’s Best Independent Bar.

Val Jack

Fabulous wee pub, best in Ayr by far. Dot Storrie

A great job and a worthy winner for all the work put in.

David Storrie

Well done. Great achievement.

Lychees on Ayr’s Miller Road, which specialised in Asian Fusion cuisine, is shutting down after 11 years in the town.

Charlene Mccluskey Gallacher

This place was recommended to us and didn’t disappoint.

John White

Everything is closing. Ayr will soon be a ghost town.

Angela Reid

Love Lychees, the lady who has been working there for years is fantastic at her job.

Robin Baird

Used to be Bonkers Disco Bar back in late 80’s early 90’s I think.

Stephanie Smith

They’re moving back to the Royal Blossom on South Harbour Street.

The Post helped disabled

pensioner Robert Campbell, 65, win a long-running campaign for a drop kerb to be installed near his home in Ayr’s Ellisland Place.

Ruth Bolland

Same problem in Troon. Disability scooters wheelchairs and the like are having to do 1/3 extra journey to find dropped kerbs where pedestrians can cross at a corner.

It adds time you need additional stamina if you are self propelling. I would like to see a councillor try out a self propelled wheelchair to experience what some disabled people go through. And they say there is no discrimination.

Jen Andrew

Great that he finally got help. Shocking that it was even a problem to start with!

OAP Dick Cox insists he will fight his parking fine “all the way” after he was slapped with a fixed penalty notice while his disabled wife was left in their car parked in a disabled space in Ayr’s High Street.

Steve Bravo

He broke the rules, the council are within their rights!

I have a blue badge and actually studied the booklet that came with it so that I knew my rights and didn’t loose my badge!

Jimmy Millar

But surely, in this instance, a bit of leniency could have been allowed instead of filling the coffers Jimmy Millar.

Steve Bravo replying to Jimmy Millar

He could have parked in a regular space if the wife wasn’t getting out of the vehicle, common sense!

Dorothy Harwood

Maybe they need to have more parking bays so people can actually shop in Ayr.

Andrew Russell

What may happen is that the fine will be increased for non payment.

Hard to bear but you are unlikely to win and may even forfeit the badge. Take it on the chin, lesson learn’t and for everyone else to understand.

Like folks say it is explained in the booklet and therefore there will be no defense in respect of the use of the badge sorry to say.

It does seem harsh for some instances where mobility is concerned but who’s to determine that at the roadside they would say and it’s a rule to fit all scenarios of disablement.
