Ayr mums Kathryn McNally, 40, and Katie, Walker, made redundant during the pandemic, have carved out a new career by helping curious youngsters appreciate the great outdoors by creating UnderSky, offering community play events, outdoor school lessons and eco-friendly play tins. Ainsley Hunter

Well done! Good luck. Melanie McLean

We have booked you for my daughter’s birthday party next month and can’t wait! Our whole experience with you even in the lead up has been great! You are so creative, helpful and inspiring. Kathleen Callaghan

Good luck. Katie you were always so welcoming and enthusiastic at YoungNats and ECOS and you both deserve to make a success with this venture.

Barassie beach in Troon has secured bathing status. Esther Neate

Awesome. We were put off the place as when we visited there was rubbish everywhere. The council wasn’t emptying the bins and they were overflowing into the street. It wasn’t the fault of visitors who had crammed the bins. We stayed about 10 minutes and drove away. We will have another look next time we are passing.

Charles Buchanan

Pity they can’t clear pavements and pier of sand. Walkways have been like that for two years now, terrible state.

Kirsten Wood

Fantastic. About time.

Plans have been drawn up to transform a former public playpark in Minishant at the rear of 1-10 Mure Place into a commercial dog walking field.

Derek Keir

Fair play to the land owner for trying something different. It’s their land they can do what they want with it.

Denholm Cluckie

I was born and raised in Minishant and this area was the public park and had swings in it .

We also held the bonfire there every year. This is just another attempt at money grabbing. It was never used to walk dogs when it was free so why pay for it.

David Agnew

They should have these in most towns, would be a good thing

Lucy Peach

Great. Live locally and know people who would love to be able to let their dog off the lead for a good run about in a safe environment without worrying.

Janet O’Brien-OReilly

This will be really useful, I have rescues from Romania, who are brilliant with family and each other but not other dogs. Unfortunately, can’t have the joy of taking them to just any park, and it’s not through lack of training, if the dogs have not been socialised when they are young, have had to fight for food and been kicked around by humans, it’s difficult. These places allow them the freedom they otherwise would not have.

South Ayrshire Swim Team’s ParaSquad members Cerys McCrindle, 20, and Laura Logan, 28, have made the 30-strong Great Britain team for the Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation World Championships, in Albufeira, Portugal.

Dawn Williams Congratulations Cerys and Laura well done so proud to know you your both a inspiration to everyone.

Mags Kainz

Congratulations well done what an inspiration yous are. Good luck.

South Ayrshire lost on their bid to become city status as part of the Queen’s Plantium Jubilee celebrations.

Anne Wilson Frew

City . There isn’t a shop to be had! It’s an actual disgrace. God only knows what visitors must think of it. Robert Wilson

Good. Ridiculous bid.

Marion Clark

City? It’s a sad excuse for a town now. Need more small independent shops like Prestwick! Rent prices need to be far better to allow that though . It’s absolutely depressing walking through the town centre with all the empty shops.

Alexander Mowat

Not surprised, visitors are no longer welcomed, all cars are faced with excessive street parking costs, private car parks charges are ridiculous. High Street at the bottom end is a ghost town.

Louise Lauchlan

How much did it cost the taxpayer to put the bid in? Last I heard it was not free.
