FUTURE VISION

Next phase of Somerset overhaul to be unveiled

-

Ayr United are set to unveil the next phase of their rebuild with stadium overhaul plans ready to go before supporters.

An event — to be held on Thursday, June 9 — will include ambitious proposals for the redevelopment of part of Somerset Park.

Footballing and club plans for the coming years will also be outlined on the night.

Presentations from chairman David Smith, head coach Lee Bullen and managing director Graeme Mathie will all be made.

Mathie told the Post: “This will serve as another significant milestone for the club in where we see ourselves going over the coming years.

“There is a real desire to grow the club — both on and off the field — and we’re keen for supporters to hear more about our plans.

“If we’re to be successful, then it’s not just about what’s happening on the pitch.

“We’re determined to do this in the right way and setting out our vision should show how serious we are.”

The evening will be opened to supporters who have purchased season tickets for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, Mathie (below) has admitted Ayr must look to bring in experience as they trawl the market to bolster their squad.

He said: “We don’t have anyone over the age of 30 on our books at present so it’s an obvious area in which we need to strengthen.

“Getting those leadership qualities in the door is something we definitely want to do.”

Ayr’s chances of retaining Kerr McInroy for another year are now slim with significant interest in the midfielder following his impressive loan stint at Somerset.

United remain keen on keeping Tomi Adeloye but the striker has yet to decide his future following his 14-goal debut season.

Meanwhile, Ayr have given a trio of promising youths their first pro deals this week.

Sixteen-year-old Max Guthrie has signed a threeyear contract, while Dario Viviani and Carter Jenkins have agreed two-year terms.
