HACKNEY PARKING CHARGES

Hackney Council is planning to start charging motorcycles, all motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, petrol or electric, to park in the borough at a rate of £6 an hour, and is also effectively banning commuting as it’s imposing four-hour maximum stay limits in most motorcycle bays.

Save London Motorcycling, and MAG, have created a petition against Hackney’s plans, but they need as many people to sign this petition as possible. At the time of writing they have more than 5,000 signatures, but they really need 7,500 to

have any chance of getting the Council to listen to them. This is how they forced Camden to listen to them so if they get enough signatures to this maybe they can do the same with Hackney. Look on their website for the address of the petition.

This, you may think, only affects Londoners, but these things have a habit of spreading once one’s been established, and it won’t be long before we see these kind of charges spreading out to other towns and cities if this is allowed to get through, so please sign the petition even if you don’t live in London, okay?
