YOUR VIEWS CARDIFF BEAT
AT the start of another year, I would like to thank you all for your support throughout 2014.
It was another busy year of campaigning and action on Anglesey – on matters from preschool education to post offices, not to mention the great victory in the case of Treffos manorial rights.
In the Assembly as Plaid’s Shadow Minister for Economy and Transport, I have emphasised the need to spend on transport in all parts of Wales and not just one stretch of road in the south east, to invest in promoting small businesses, and making sure the government provides the necessary data and information for us to be able to assess the state of the economy and build for the future.
We have another big, exciting year ahead in 2015, which will include the election for Westminster. It is clear that every vote will count in May.
My New Year’s resolution for 2015 is to continue to pursue an agenda for the Welsh economy that sees that economy’s real potential, and to offer new and innovative ways of reaching that potential. I simply don’t believe that our destination as a nation is economic failure and I certainly don’t think that this is the best things can get.
I will continue to support businesses on Anglesey and hope that they seize every opportunity to expand. One area I see with potential for growth here on Anglesey is the food industry. Historically, Anglesey is known as Môn Mam Cymru, and we are still producing some of Wales’s best, and world-class, foods on the island. From the international success of Halen Môn to newer businesses such as Ace Lolly, from cheeses and butter to ice cream and chocolates, we have a wealth of high quality delicious produce made here on the island and I am keen to see how we can give this sector a boost. Let us give them every support in 2015.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for a prosperous and successful New Year to you all. Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi i gyd.
