Welsh sessions

-

A NEW project is being launched to give parents that are able to speak or understand Welsh the confidence to use it with their children at home through a series of friendly, informal, practical sessions over a period of six weeks.

Menter Iaith Môn will be hosting sessions called ‘Mae dy Gymraeg di’n Grêt’ – (Your Welsh is Great), funded by the Big Lottery Fund, in Amlwch and Holyhead.

A short Language Awareness presentation will be combined with the sessions to inform parents of the advantages of bilingualism, be it, better exam results, cognitive abilities, greater work opportunities and many more.

They’ll also be informed on the Welsh language resources and provision of a high standard that are available to support them, and their children in learning Welsh. Parents will have the opportunity to meet Twf’s Field Officer, take part in a Welsh taster lesson by a Welsh language tutor from Llandrillo Menai Group, enjoy a keep fit session, beauty session, jewellery session, healthy eating session and many more.

The project will start on Monday, January 19 to March 2, between 9.30am–11.30am in Caban Baban Nursery in Amlwch and Monday January 19–March 2, between 1pm – 3pm at Newry Juniors, Holyhead. Free of charge but spaces are limited. To register before hand, please contact Sara Davies on 01248 725709 or sara@mentermon.com.
