HMV close city store
RETAILER HMV is to close its store in Bangor later this month.
The shop on the High Street had escaped closure back in 2013 when the firm went into administration.
Back then administrators closed around 60 outlets across the UK - including Wrexham.
Hilco UK, a restructuring firm which helps troubled retailers, then agreed to buy the historic group saving 130 HMV stores, including those in Bangor and Llandudno.
But this week HMV tweeted that the Bangor store would close on January 25.
@HMV Bangor tweeted: “Sorry to say we are closing on the 25th of Jan. Feel free to buy up as many bargains as possible before we go.
“Thanks for your support during the years. @HMVLlandudno will be the nearest hmv after the 25th.”
The store was opened in Bangor in 2006 by Icelandic girl group Nylon.
The Daily Post has contacted the HMV for further details on the planned closure but the firm has not responded.
This announcement follows the news on Monday that clothes retailer Bank had entered administration.
That has placed the future of stores in Llandudno and Wrexham at risk although they remain trading at the current time while a buyer is sought.
No redundancies have yet been made.
