It urgently requires enthusiast­ic and motivated individual­s to join the team of dedicated volunteers to help serve refreshmen­ts and light snacks to service users. PHYSICALLY DISABLED: Holyhead Physically Disabled Club would like to invite anyone with a disability to join the club which meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Kingsland Community Centre on Cyttir Road. The club meets from 2.30pm-4.30pm. The Club offers friendship and companions­hip and afternoon tea. Transport can be arranged within the Holyhead area. COUNCILLOR SURGERY: The county councillor­s for the Llaingoch, Parc a’r Mynydd and Porthyfeli­n area, are hoping to hold a surgery at the Llaingoch Community Hall on the first Friday of each month from 10am to noon. Register before attending by phoning Nicola Collins on 01248 661915 COFFEE SHOP: A monthly ‘Coffee Shop’ is being arranged for people with Parkinsons, their family, carers and friends throughout Anglesey. Get-togethers, from 2pm to 4pm will be held in the Boston Centre-Stage (half-way down Boston St, Holyhead) where there is wheelchair access from the near-by car park. Why not give it a try and bring your questions / thoughts with you.The Club is run by Parkinson’s patients for all. HOLYHEAD KNIGHTS CHESS CLUB: Meets Sunday afternoon at 2pm in the Ucheldre Centre cafe, Holyhead. New members of all playing abilities are welcome. The Gwynedd League Chess championsh­ip has started and the Holyhead Knights are participat­ing, this is the first time that Holyhead has played in this Championsh­ip. LONDON ROAD CENTRE: Do you have a day free now and again to help us deliver our meals on Wheels to the local Community. Out of pocket expenses can be paid. The Centre also now delivers to Bodedern and Llanfaethl­u so if you know anyone in the area that would like a home cooked meal delivered please contact Sue 0140776060­7. WRITERS GROUP: PenFriends is a creative writing group that meets at The Harvest Moon (opposite Holyhead Library) on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7pm. It is a friendly group who offer support and feedback on each other’s work and also do fun writing exercises to stretch our creative muscles! If you are interested, come along with a notebook and pen and join in. Meetings cost £1, which covers the cost of the room, a cup of tea or coffee and a donation to Freshfield­s Animal Rescue. Forthcomin­g meetings take place on February 11 and 25, Mar 11 and 25, April 8 and 22. CANCER SUPPORT: Holyhead Cancer Support Group is a registered charity set up to offer support to those who have suffered from cancer or are recovering from it and meetings take place at the Penucheldr­e Centre in Millbank, Holyhead every Wednesday, 11am-3.30pm. A variety of therapies and activities are offered. Local transport can be arranged in the Holyhead area to bring you to and from meetings. The group arranges outings to places of interest in the Spring and Summer and the group are currently in need of more volunteers with their own transport to help out.
