WRITE ON: At the recent AgeWell Writers’ Group meeting at Llangefni Town Hall, Pauline Kenyon led an appropriately themed Valentine’s session. Each member selected a real but anonymous lonely hearts advert, from a selection of very varied advertisers (different ages, backgrounds and requirements) and prepared a piece giving the ‘back story’ of the person seeking a partner. The results were amazingly imaginative and insightful and the amount of detail that writers worked into their ‘pen portraits’ was exceptional. Then everyone took an advert from someone of the opposite gender and prepared a second cameo piece about this hopeful seeker of romance. The group’s homework was to write up an account of the couple’s first meeting - or compose a tale called ‘The unexpected Valentine’s Day Card’ – and the results will be read out at the next meeting!
