Cup triumph good on many

Levels

-

SATURDAY’S win over Conwy Borough in the Welsh Cup was pleasing on a number of levels.

Obviously it was great to advance to the quarter-final stages, where we will face either Caersws or Newtown at home on the weekend of March 7 and 8.

However, it was also good to see the level of performance put in by the team, coupled with a clean sheet.

Leon Clowes was in great form at the back for City and Callum Morris was outstanding in midfield, not only grabbing his third goal in three games since arriving, but also winning almost every ball he went for.

It’s heartening to see the new additions gelling with the team so fast and I am more confident by the week that we can climb out of the Welsh Premier League bottom two by the end of the season.

The battle continues this Friday when we play a crucial league match against Cefn Druids at home (7.45pm).

Victory will close the gap above us to five points, and with another important match away at Connah’s Quay the following weekend, this really is a crucial stage of the campaign.

The club has announced that for the remaining five league games at The Book People Stadium all supporters aged 12 and under will be admitted to the ground free of charge.

It’s vital that Nantporth is turned into a fortress for these remaining five cup finals and hopefully the people of Bangor and beyond will come out in force and help the team on.

The support has been fantastic during the club’s successes in recent seasons and it is equally vital the players get the backing when they are involved in what is a very rare fight against relegation.

Bangor City Under-19s have been in outstanding form recently and they will look to extend their fourmatch unbeaten run this Sunday when they visit Cefn Druids.

With 26 goals scored in their last four matches who would bet against them chalking up another fine victory.
