Jones fires a six-timer

- League: League Cup second round, second leg:

MATTHEW JONES fired six goals as Arriva Buses Bangor routed UMCB 12-2 in the North Gwynedd and Anglesey Sunday League Cup.

Arriva, having created a 5-1 lead in the first leg of this second round fixture, completed their top gear passage as 17-3 overall winners.

Nathan Davies also netted twice for the Buses, and singles were provided by Matthew Parry, James Oates, Scott Hughes and Steven Jones, with UMCB’s Huw Davies replying twice.

Victoria Bethesda beat Gwalchmai 8-2 to book progress by an 11-4 aggregate, Gavin Pritchard, Daniel Owen and Liam Willigan all with doubles

Opening their League Cup second round tie at Valley, Penbont Celts pulled off a 4-3 snatch, thanks to Mike Holroyd, Alex Lynes, Meurig Parry and Darren Edmunds.

Valley remain very much in contention thanks to Paul Williams (2) and Tony Meyers.

More league points were banked by Bryngwran Bulls, as 3-2 away winners over Amlwch’s Adelphi Vaults, where another Matthew Jones registered a hat-trick.

Bulls now tower over the league scene with a 14 points’ lead.

Adelphi’s scorers were Sion Thomas and Steve Mason.

Kings Arms Holyhead were other away day successes, making it 4-2 at Treetops Benllech.
