British Drift Championship is on at Trac MÔn this weekend

-

THIS weekend, the British Drift Championship comes to Anglesey for the final round of the year.

Previous rounds were held at Knockhill, Teeside and Lydden Hill, but the decider is reserved for drivers’ favourite, Anglesey Circuit, and it all comes down to this event to determine this year’s champions.

There are four contenders vying for the title in the Pro Am class – Adam Simmons driving his Nissan Skyline, Scotsman Fraser Stark (BMW Estate), Louis Geldart (V8 Nissan Silvia) and David Egan (Toyota Corolla).

Only 20 points separate them and with 28 for a win, 24 for second and 21 for third, it’s all to play for.

The Pro class is a battle between young Irishman Jack Shanahan and 2013 champion Mike Marshal.

Both classes will practice on the ultra‐fast circuit layout , before two qualifying runs to establish who will battle who in the all-important finals.

Cars will then battle it out in a knockout-style competition until there are only two drivers left to crown the victors in the 2015 British Drift Championship.

Local driver Joseph Ankers will be hoping for a good event.

The Tŷ Croes resident has had a mixed season so far but a new engine fitted in his Nissan S14 mid‐ season saw him back on good form at round four. With Anglesey being his local track, he is looking to return to the podium in the Pro Am class.

The event takes place this Saturday and Sunday. Admission: Saturday £15, Sunday £20 and weekend ticket £25, under-16s free.
