No joy for the Gogs

-

RGC were beaten 54-14 at Swalec Championship leaders Merthyr.

Huw Worthington and Maredydd Francis scored the consolation tries for the Gogs, James Lang converting both.

In Division One North, Bethesda went down 28-12 at champions Pwllheli in a much closer game than the scoreline suggests.

It was 12-12 at half time with Gareth V Edwards and Aiden Guenole scoring the tries for Bethesda and Ricardo Bueloni kicked the conversion.

Indiscipline proved Pesda’s undoing in the second half.

Llangefni trailed just 7-5 at home to Nant Conwy at half time, Greg Horsman their try scorer, but the Conwy Valley visitors ran away with it in the second period, eventually prevailing 38-5.

Division Two: Menai Bridge 8 Colwyn Bay 29. Division Three: Rhyl and District 39 Bangor 7.

Bangor Youth got their league campaign off to a good start with a 25-16 win over Rhyl at Cae Milltir.

Rhyl started the livelier and left winger Reeve Wright chased a brilliant kick into the corner to touch down for an unconverted try. With Bangor giving away too many penalties the visitors soon added three points.

Bangor started to get more ball control and centre Cameron Owen broke up the middle for a try converted by Guillaume Peyrasse.

Rhyl struck back with another penalty before forward pressure from Bangor brought its reward when George Dymond crashed over. A Peyrasse penalty made it 15-11 Bangor at half time.

Peyrasse added another penalty goal after the break, then Owen put Bangor in a strong position with a converted try.

Rhyl’s Wright scored another unconverted try to deny Bangor the bonus point.
