Young Jac is a hit with rockers

-

BUDDING guitarist Jac Ellis Roberts was singled out by American rock group Wheatus in their gig at the Ucheldre Centre in Holyhead last Wednesday night.

Wheatus frontman Brendan B Brown told the crowd to check out 10-year-old Jac’s cover of their song Teenage Dirtbag.

Jac, from Llangefni, decided to cover the hit song when he heard the band where going to Holyhead as part of their 15th Anniversary Tour.

His dad Gary Roberts said: “Jac’s absolutely made up, he’s only 10 years old and he can sing and play guitar.

“He’s only been learning to play guitar for a year and this has given him the inspiration to carry on playing.”

Jac was called to the front of the crowd he handed Brendan his Welsh flag.

The Wheatus front man then performed three songs with the Welsh flag draped around his shoulders.

Gary added: “I don’t think Jac slept last night because he was still so excited.

“He was late for school the next morning but I they think they understood.”

Jac was challenged by Facebook group We Are Anglesey to learn the song so they could send Wheatus his YouTube cover.

The band retweeted the video and the organisers of the event, Rozzy’s Rock Shop in Holyhead, sent Jac and his parents free tickets for the gig.

It took Jac a week to learn the song and he was “made up” when Wheatus retweeted the video to their followers.
