Michael Andrew Capper’s body was found in Penrhosgarnedd, Bangor, last Friday, January 22, at around midday.
He was last seen in Penrhosgarnedd and a public appeal for information at the time of his disappearance by North Wales Police also urged Mr Capper to let them know he was safe and well.
The statement was made by Mr Capper’s sister-inlaw on Rhyl’s Denmore Premier Food Store Facebook page.
It read: “It is with a heavy heart and sadness that my brother in law Mike who went missing just after Christmas was found deceased yesterday.
“Thank you to everyone who shared the North Wales Police and missing persons posts I put on, and thank you to everyone who messaged me with support.
“That is all I can say for now x.
“This news is so sad, our thoughts are with all the family.”
Tributes were left underneath the Facebook post for the family of the 56 year-old, who had links to Rhyl and Porthmadog.
