Pervert jailed over 440 illegal images of kids
A SELF-CONFESSED “pervert and paedophile” has been jailed for making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.
Robert Stuart Siddall, 59, got three years and four months behind bars after admitting six charges of making indecent images, two of possessing indecent images, one of possessing extreme images and three of distributing images.
Prosecutor Matthew Curtis told Caernarfon Crown Court that Siddall, of Ty Newydd Leisure Park, Llanbedrgoch, Anglesey, appeared in custody for sentencing after being arrested the previous night for breaching bail conditions imposed by magistrates.
He had tried to befriend a 14-year-old girl on Facebook with “affectionate, not indecent’ messages.
Mr Curtis said in April 1991 Siddall, who previously lived in Maes Cynlas, Ty Croes, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Chester Crown Court for indecent assault on a 16-year-old girl and gross indecency with a child.
In February last year, North Wales Police were told a man arrested in Avon and Somerset said he’d been sent indecent images of children by Siddall.
Siddall was arrested and his three laptops, nine mobile phones, tablet and SD card seized.
When interviewed, he admitted sending the images. In information gleaned from his devices Siddall said he fantasised about abusing children.
In total, Siddall had 440 indecent images of children with 64 at category A – the most severe – and 15 movies with 10 at category A. Mr Curtis said: “The images showed children ranging from aged four upwards, with two images showing children in acts of bestiality.” Mr Curtis said: “He admitted that he was a pervert and a paedophile.”
Sentencing Siddall, Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins said: “The depraved nature of those images and movies were being watched by you on a daily basis and distributed by you to others.
“These images are abhorrent to any normal person. The children involved in these videos are all victims – all your victims. You eventually admitted that you were a pervert and a paedophile.”
Siddall will serve half of his sentence before being released on licence and will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely. He was also banned from working with children indefinitely and from using online messaging systems.
