CELEBRITY television chef James Martin has a particular reason for looking forward to returning to Llandudno next month.

As a young man, starting out in the restaurant trade, he was overjoyed at landing a job at a kitchen in one of the resort’s hotels.

But it didn’t work out the way James planned.

He said: “I had a flat on the seafront and turned up for work and found the chef making stock from the breakfast leftovers.

“I said that’s the wrong thing to do and the chef said well if that’s how you feel, you can clear off, so I did. I lasted just one day in a Llandudno hotel.”

James refused to name the hotel.

“It wouldn’t be fair. I’m sure that chef is long gone,” he said.

James has visited the resort since when he did Ready Steady Cook and has flown along the North Wales coast in his light aircraft quite often.

He is returning to Llandudno bringing his Plates, Mates And Automobiles show, his first ever touring stage show.

James is celebrating 20 years since he first graced TV screens and he promises a fast-paced, interactive and high tech extravaganza packed with his signature cooking demonstrations, surprises and special guests.

The show will be at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on March 15 at 7.30pm.

James added: “I’ve been cooking live on TV for 20 years now and I felt it was time to do something I’ve never done before that was truly special.

“I’m so excited to be heading out on my first ever tour, doing what I do best but on the big stage.

“I can’t wait to get out there and visit so many great parts of the UK, this show is going to be super cool.

“I’m pulling out my favourite recipes and mixing in plenty of surprises and special guests in what I hope is going to be feast of a live show.”

James Martin began catering college at 16 and went on to open his first restaurant at the age of just 22 years old.

His television career started in 1996 and he’s rarely been off the screen since.

James has become a household favourite, presenting and taking part in some of the nation’s most loved programmes.

His Saturday morning TV show currently attracts about three million viewers every week.

James is also the author of 15 best-selling and award winning cookbooks as well as being a car and motorbike enthusiast.

In honour to his cooking roots as a pastry chef, James’s new recipe book, Sweet, is out now.
