Home of Sportsman Racing roars its way to Anglesey Circuit

- by Dave Jones

THIS weekend’s bank holiday sees the return of the Thundersport GB Motor Super Prix of Wales to Anglesey Circuit.

Thundersport GB – commonly hailed as The Home Of Sportsman Racing – offers an absolute plethora of magical diversity when it comes to motorcycle racing, with 32 races over Sunday and Monday.

From the now famous Dunlop Aprilia Superteens that spawned the likes of Casey Stoner, Cal Crutchlow, Tom Sykes, Chaz Davies, Tommy Hill, Leon Camier, Bradley Smith, Danny Webb, plus the next step up for these youngsters in the blistering pace of the RST Moto Aprilia RRV450GP machines, through budget classes such as Crank Racing Thundersport 500 and the now hugely popular Sparklight Racing Golden Era Steelsport/Supersport and Dymag Golden Era Superbikes, visitors will witness some beautiful machinery from the late 1990s, ridden by both Gentleman Racers and youngsters who have now too decided to soak up the challenge.

Rookie class A&R Racing/Continental Pre-National Sport and Selco Freshman 600, has produced some truly invigorating battles this year and acts as a perfect precursor to The GBRacing 600 Sportsman Elite. Avon Supertwins HMT Racing Stocktwins serves up the latest Isle Of Man TT class, and this too has become popular. Then it’s time for the big guys. The Stewart Events Thundersport GP1 Elite and Monex Europe GP1 Sportsman offers out and out power– some with over 220BHP and capable of over 200mph.

All races on the Bank Holiday Monday are televised, so you can watch them online at thundersportgb.com about 10 days after the event.
