Sustainable change on Maesgeirchen estate

-

IN March of this year, BCT (Building Communities Trust) and the Invest Local Officer Gwen Thirsk, held their first public meeting with the Maesgeirchen community to introduce a £1m, 10 year programme of Big Lottery funding which will support 13 communities across Wales. Following subsequent meetings, the people of Maegeirchen have voted to elect PMP (Partneriaeth Maesgeirchen Partnership) to deliver the community consultation which is part of the ‘Get Going’ phase of the programme.

When complete, and building on the strengths, skills and talents of individuals, groups and organisations in Maesgeirchen, the consultation document will provide the raw data to develop an action plan to deliver a programme for sustainable, longlasting change.

PMP have since employed Fast Track to Skills Mentor, Andy Davies, to carry out this very important task. Andy previously served as Project Officer with the ‘old’ Communities First Programme and has excellent local knowledge and the respect of the Maes G residents.

The consultation is now in its third week and recently, CCG junior wardens took part in activities designed to stimulate and encourage ideas about their community through play and art. To have your say or for more information on the Invest Local Programme and how to get involved, phone Andy Davies on 07787783575 or Email andrew. davies@maesg.co.uk – PMP office is located at 23 Llys Dylan, Maesgeirchen. Our doors are always open and kettle on if you’d rather pop in for a chat and a brew!
