Bangor progress in the cup
BANGOR City Men progressed in the Welsh Challenge Cup with a 2-1 midweek derby win against coastal rivals Llandudno.
After Tudno’s league 2-1 victory over City just three weeks earlier, this was a tense affair under the floodlights at Ysgol John Bright.
Tom Hughes and Josh Bryce were denied before Dave Paterson handed City a deserved lead from close range after Bryce had a shot saved.
Moments later, Oli Fleming netted from a similar position to give the visitors a two-goal cushion.
However, the dangerous hosts ended the half strongly and pulled one back with Martin Williams’ well-placed penalty flick.
In a tight second half City held on to earn a tie at Cardiff in 2017.
