Bulls in charge at top after win over Valley

-

BRYNGWRAN Bulls pulled off a vital 2-1 win over Valley to stay in touch with Holyhead Town at the top of the Anglesey League’s Bwlch Car Boot Cup Group A.

On 20 minutes Bulls edged ahead when Nathan Lewis was quickest to react in a goalmouth scramble and poke the ball home.

The visitors levelled on 35 minutes courtesy of top marksman Jerome Sillence.

With the half-time break a minute or so away, Andrew Bailey pounced to nudge Bryngwran back in front.

A competitive second half produced no further goals.

Group leaders Holyhead fought back from three down to shade a 4-3 thriller against visitors Pentraeth Reserves.

The visitors took just seven minutes to forge ahead through Iolo Owen, and soon after home keeper Nick Murphy conceded a penalty and Alex Jones duly obliged to make it 2-0.

Holyhead were reeling, and worse was to follow when Chris Tute added a third before the break.

Harsh words were spoken by the Holyhead manager at half time and they had the effect he wanted, as within minutes of the restart Tom Hadley pulled one back via a penalty.

Just past the hour, Mathew Thomas struck to make it 3-2.

Town piled on the pressure and with 15 minutes remaining Leroy Parry let fly from 40 yards to send the ball thundering in for 3-3.

And with just one minute left, Barry Lavelle crowned a tremendous fightback as he met a cross to hit the winner.

Llangoed beat Mynydd Llandegai Reserves 2-1 to go level on points with their opponents in Group B.

Owain Roberts’ double sealed the victory for the hosts.

Bethesda Athletic Reserves umphed 2-1 at Bodorgan Juniors.

Both sides had early efforts, with Juniors playing neat football up to the last third but missing a cutting edge.

Iwan Parry and Luke Allaway went close to scoring amid a host of chances being created but squandered.

Then on 28 minutes Allaway powered a header home to open the scoring, but instead of consolidating the Juniors attacked and were caught on tri- the break just past the half-hour as Steff Davies equalised.

Chances fell at both ends before the turnaround, Bodorgan’s Allaway going closest when he hit the bar.

The second half opened with Bethesda attacking, but the Juniors again powered forward and in quick succession Allaway and Dylan Bee fired wide.

The Bethesda youngsters had their backs to the wall but defended well, aided by keeper Paul Roberts who pulled off some fine saves late on as Jordan Williams headed goalwards twice and shot from close range.

Bodorgan kept attacking without success, then with three minutes left Pesda notched a sucker punch winner on the break as Ashley Parry was sent free by Adrian Roberts to score.
