FARMERS UNITING TO FIGHT PYLON THREAT
LOCAL business Silver Bay Holiday Village made a generous donation to their local lifeboat station following a summer of fundraising events.
When lodge owners headed to Silver Bay Holiday Village for their summer break, the Silver Bay management team saw an excellent opportunity to organise fundraising activities for the RNLI, a charity very close to the hearts of Silver Bay’s community.
Chris Buckley, Operations Manager at Silver Bay, said: “Living and holidaying on Anglesey gives our community at Silver Bay a heightened awareness of the hard work and support of the brave RNLI volunteers.
“We endeavour to find fundraising opportunities to support the RNLI crews to have the best equipment possible, and this summer was the most fruitful yet.”
Silver Bay organised and managed a variety of fundraising activities over the summer months. These included Busy Bayer children’s club Bake Sales, a rather exciting tennis tournament, the inaugural sandcastle building competition and various activities at the Spa and Leisure Complex.
The children at Silver Bay also ran a Tuck Shop on the day of the tennis tournament which contributed to the total Jamie Hughes, General Manager, said: “It’s really great to get all ages together to contribute to such a great cause - many of the owners have boats and enjoy their time at sea safe in the knowledge that the RNLI are active in the area.”
The holiday village raised a total of £2,000 for the RNLI charity thanks to the enthusiasm and support of Silver Bay’s community and there are plans to continue this philanthropist spirit into the winter months.
A spokesman for Trearddur Bay RNLI, Delme Mullings, said: “The RNLI is a charity funded almost entirely by the generosity of its supporters and its lifeboats and other lifesaving assets are crewed by unpaid volunteers.
“This kind of donation will cover the cost to kit out one of our volunteer crew members with vital lifesaving equipment.”
