Youngster makes history by passing Latin American dancing exams

-

A NINE year old has made history by becoming the first student of Anglesey Dance to pass her Bronze medal exam in both Ballroom and Latin American dance styles.

Faith Jones gained ‘Highly Commended’ in both exams and with very good comments from the Allied Dancing Association examiner.

“We are very proud of what Faith has achieved and are now working hard towards her Silver medals,” said Barry, one half of the Anglesey Dance partnership.

“We decided to start teaching Ballroom and Latin American dance on Anglesey and the surrounding area after retiring from a very successful time competing nationally all over Britain.

“We had to travel to Liverpool every week to receive the training required to compete at the level required.

“As we could no longer compete we thought it would be a good idea to try and pass on our knowledge to the people of North Wales so they too could enjoy the pleasures of dance.

“We wanted to be able to teach properly so continued to travel to Liverpool each week to receive Professional Dance Teacher training from Mr. Paul Taylor regarded by many as one of the best teachers in the country and coach to several current British National Champions.

“We passed our exams in January 2016 and now hold regular weekly dance classes on Anglesey for adults and children.

“We teach in a relaxed style and everyone learns at their own pace, none of our current students had ever danced Ballroom or Latin American before and we gain a lot of pleasure from watching them progress.”
