O’Hara hits hat-trick as Cemaes join top 6

- GWYNEDD LEAGUE Bro Goronwy 2 Harlech Town 1

MATHEW O’HARA was a hattrick hero as Cemaes Bay moved into the top six of Welsh Alliance Division Two with a 4-1 win over Blaenau Amateurs at School Lane.

O’Hara struck twice in the first half, on 15 and 37 minutes, before Tam Morton added a third for the hosts after 63.

Iwan Jones pulled one back for the Quarrymen from the penalty spot, but O’Hara settled it with his third goal.

Mynydd Llandegai ran out 4-3 winners in a thriller at Llannerchymedd.

David Lee Jones (2), Alwyn Roberts and Dafydd Evans shared the away team’s goals haul, but ‘Medd pushed them close, replying through Mark Jones and Martin Marshall (2).

Darren Lewthwaite handed Pentra- eth a second-minute lead at Meliden, but the Prestatyn team hit back to win 2-1 with a pair of spot-kicks from Matty Griffiths.

Llanfairpwll put up a good battle at Mochdre Sports before going down 4-3.

Liam Morris delivered a double and Arwel Williams a single for the Anglesey side.

Llangefni Town were 6-3 winners at Trearddur Bay United in the Reserves Division.

Aberffraw took the spoils 3-0 at Beaumaris Town thanks to goals from Ieuan Lloyd, Matty Reynolds and Liam Owen.

Bodedern were held 2-2 at Nefyn United, Shane Boylan and Matthew Jones with the goals.

Menai Bridge Tigers v Llanystumdwy was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

In a game in which Bro never hit anywhere near their expected standards, they still managed to edge a 2-1 home win over Harlech.

Chances galore fell to the visitors but somehow Bro found themselves two goals ahead, and with Harlech pulling one back with 20 minutes remaining, the Moelfre men had to fight all the way for the win.

Darren Parry was first to bring goalkeeper Jonny Sweetser-Hawkes into action, volleying well only for the glovesman to fling himself low down at his post to save.

Bro took the lead after 25 minutes, Rob Tiesteel scoring from the halfway line, sending his free kick arrowing over the stricken keeper for 1-0.

George Sutherns, Kieran Williams and then Ryan Jones all missed great chances for the visitors.

Sweetser-Hawkes again had to be agile in flying across his area to tip away Sutherns header.

It was no different after the break, Harlech continuing where they left off but Bro again scoring next.

Callum Thomas superbly flicked a spinning shot over the keeper and into the net for 2-0 after 62 minutes.

Finally Harlech found the back of the net to bring them back into contention on 70 through Ryan Jones’ cross-shot, but further pressure could not produce a deserved leveller.
