City can reignite campaign in cup clash with Tudno

- Football: Bangor City

BANGOR City will look to get their season back on track when they host Llandudno in the last 16 of the Welsh Cup this Saturday (1.30pm).

City ended phase one of the Welsh Premier campaign with successive defeats, although they had already clinched fourth spot and Championship Conference football for the remainder of this term.

New signings were expected to be announced by the club this week with a number of players having moved on in the January transfer window.

Jamie Reed has returned to Llandudno, defender Leon Clowes is now at Airbus, Ashley Young’s loan deal at Rhyl has become permanent while Brayden Shaw is back at Accrington Stanley following a successful loan spell at Nantporth.

Forward Oscar Durnin has been released, Sion Edwards has switched to Rhyl on loan, and Porthmadog have taken Sion Bradley on a temporary basis.

Arriving at the Bangor University Stadium are ex-Leeds United defender Paul Connolly, who was previously on loan from Airbus but has now committed on a permanent basis, full-back/midfield operator Jack Metcalf and ex-Torino centre-back Sergio Uyi.

City and Tudno have met twice this season, Ian Dawes’ side winning 2-1 at Nantporth, but Alan Morgan’s men gaining revenge with a 1-0 result on New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, Bangor City Reserves edged closer to Welsh Alliance Reserves Division leaders Denbigh Town with a 1-0 victory at Llandudno Junction last Saturday.

There was no repeat of the Citizens’ 10-1 hammering of the Railwaymen eight days earlier as an altogether tighter affair ensured, Rory Kelly netting the only goal.
