RSPCA warning pet owners to be on alert

-

PET owners are being urged to be vigilant after six animals on the same road are believed to have been poisoned.

RSPCA Cymru has issued a warning after five cats and a dog living in three separate properties on Bryn Glas Road in Holyhead had fallen ill.

One cat had to be put to sleep after a veterinary inspection confirmed she had been poisoned by anti-freeze.

The animal charity is now appealing for information about the suspected poisonings and say they are “concerned” that six incidents have been reported in the same area in February and March.

It is not known if the poisonings have been the result of a deliberate act or if they were accidental but pet owners are being warned to be extra cautious.

RSPCA Inspector Andrew Broadbent PUPILS from Bangor area primary schools recently took part in a Jamboree to promote and celebrate the Welsh language amongst Year 3 children.

The all-day event took place at said: “Our thoughts are with the owners of pets who have been poisoned in this way. It is not known whether these poisonings were unintentional or deliberate – but to see so many in the same area of Holyhead is particularly concerning, and we’re reminding people to be cautious.

“At this time, it’s important local pet owners are vigilant. If a poisoning is sus- Pontio and was organised by the Siarter Iaith team and chaired by Mr Elfed Morgan Morris. pected, people should remain calm, remove their pet from any suspected source of poison, and contact a vet immediately.

“Should anyone have any information linked to reported pet poisonings on Bryn Glas Road, they are urged to contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.”
