NEWBOROUGH CINEMA CLUB: The Cinema Club runs on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays each month 7pm. LLANDDWYN/NEWBOROUGH WI: Met in Eglwys Bach on May 3, to discuss the Resolution­s and celebrate the group’s tenth anniversar­y. The President thanked Bethan for the gift of a birthday cake. The price of the trip to Gwydir on July 19, is now £8. Entries for the Annual Show and orders for the 2018 WI Diary should be in by May 18. Angharad will give a session on selfdefenc­e at Eglwys Bach on June 21; price £5 including refreshmen­ts. Friends welcome. Book by June 8 as places are limited. AFWI sent thanks for the £20 donation towards the cost of the Annual Show. Chris read Betty’s report on the Annual Conference and introduced the new WI website. Sandy thanked the group for sponsoring the Marie Curie swim; she raised £380 to be used locally. The group supported the Resolution to reduce microfibre contaminat­ion of water supplies and rejected the one to tackle loneliness. Anita then ran a killer quiz and the birthday party followed. Jane Norman Phillips will demonstrat­e Collage with Paper at the July 1 meeting.

NEWBOROUGH LEISURE CLUB: met on 10 May 10 in the Prichard Jones Institute. Roz dealt with business and reported from the committee meeting, then Sue Davies gave a talk on her work as Anglesey’s only female lighthouse keeper. The Summer trip on the Ffestiniog railway will be on Tuesday June 13; coach at 9.05am. Note unusual day and time. July 12 is the AGM with buffet.
