BANGOR will aim to build on last weekend’s excellent win over Denbigh when they travel to Connah’s Quay this Saturday.

The Citizens lie second in the North Wales League Premier Division after seeing off a Denbigh side which had won their opening three matches before coming unstuck at Ty Newydd.

South African all-rounder Francois Mostert was the star turn for Bangor, claiming five wickets and scoring a half-century.

Denbigh won the toss and elected to bat, Jackson Braddock-Pajo (53) and Gerallt Lyall (26) putting on 85 for the first wicket.

However, when both men departed without further addition to the score, the Vale of Clwyd side lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for a modest 152.

Mostert took centre stage, clean bowling four of his victims in picking up 5-40, Nadeem Rehman grabbing 2-25 and Andy Williams 2-27.

Bangor were wobbling on 7-2 early in their reply, before Rehman and Mostert produced a stand of 76 for the third wicket.

Rehman was removed for 48, but Mostert and captain Robert Marshall (31) took the hosts to the brink of vic- tory with a partnershi­p of 68. Mostert was there at the end on 59 not out as the citizens finished on 153-4 for a 13-2 success.

Leaders Menai Bridge made it four straight wins with a six-wicket triumph at Gresford.

The Wrexham area team chose to take first knock but were sent packing for just 140.

New signing Gethin Long impressed with the ball for Bridge, collecting 5-45, with fellow recent recruit Arwel Thomas scooping 3-26 and Zach Ringrose 2-30.

Despite two early losses, Menai advanced quite comfortabl­y to 141-4, Matt Bixby topping the chart with 49 in a 13-2 verdict.

Bridge will target a fifth win in a row when they host Hawarden Park this Saturday.

In the 1st XI First Division, Bethesda suffered a batting nightmare in a seven-wicket loss to Dolgellau at Parc Villa.

Pesda were bowled out for just 52 after electing to bat. their top-scorer being extras with 16.

In reply, Dolgellau collapsed to 13-3 but suffered no further losses in a 13-2 victory, Gareth Jones with 2-20 for the hosts.

Bodedern were left with too many runs to get in their home tussle with Marchwiel and Wrexham in the 1st XI Second Division.

The visitors amassed 252-6, skipper George Forgrave with a commanding 140, Dewi Hood 2-38 and Sion Keir 2-42 for Boded.

In response, the Anglesey side could only muster 186-7, opener Gareth Thomas striking 70 and captain Carwyn Thomas 32 not out.

Menai Bridge whipped visitors Gresford 14-1 in the 2nd XI Premier Division.

Bridge set 233-6, opener James Jones notching 71, Josh Massey 50 not out, Cefyn Owen 38 and captain Callum Andrews 36.

Phil Smith then scooped a stunning 7-32 off 10 overs as Gresford were dismissed for 137.

Idrees Ijax hit an unbeaten 102 for Bangor in a seven-wicket success at St Asaph in the 2nd XI West Division.

Saints posted 192-3 off 40 overs, then the Citizens coasted to 194-3 in 31 overs, Ijaz’s fellow opener Nigel Barry adding 49 in a 13-2 win.

Bethesda limited Abergele to 137-8 but were then all out for 123 (11-4).
