Drunk bit two cops at station

A MAN who bit two police officers while being restrained in a cell has been locked up for six months.

Steven Paul Johnson pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and breaching a criminal behaviour order byy beingg drunk, threatenin­g and abusive.sive.

Jailing him at Caernarfon­on Crown Court, Judge Huww Rees said: “This behaviour has got to stop.

“The public should be left alone from your aggressive behaviour. It’s as simple as that.”

Prosecutor Sion ap Mihangel said the 45-yearold had been given the fiveeyear criminal behaviour orderder by magistrate­s at Caernarfon­n last September.

On March 21 this year, said the barrister, two members of staff at Holyhead railway station were subjected to abuse by Johnson.

A manager who approached the scene was also subjected to abuse, and passengers on the concourse were directed away from Johnson and the police were called.

“He was shouting in the manager’s face and was so close she could smell alcohol on his breath,” said Mr ap Mihangel.

Johnson was taken to Caernarfon p police station where officers tried to book him into custody, but he rema remained aggressive and abusive and had to be physically re restrained.

The court heard that as o officers tried to control him, h he bit the finger of Sergeant Robert Dawson, causing a puncture wound.

He bit another officer, PC Al Alex Baker, in the leg, but cau caused him no injury. “As a drug user in the past, the defend defendant was classed as high risk and the officer had to go to Ysbyty Gwynedd for treatment and tests,” said Mr ap Mihangel.

Johnson, of no fixed address but formerly of Rainhill, Liverpool, was said to have 105 conviction­s for 220 offences and the order was for him not to be drunk, threatenin­g and abusive.
