Locals asked for help in crime plan

COUNCIL SURVEY WILL BE USED IN COUNTY SAFETY PLAN

-

A CRIME survey to find out what residents think about their county will form part of a plan to make Gwynedd and Anglesey a safer place to live.

Every year, the Gwynedd and Anglesey Community Safety Partnership brings together various key agencies to assess crime and disorder in the county.

This year’s consultation, which will help create a plan for reducing crime across the county, will include the results of a public questionnaire which is available on the council’s website until the end of next month.

Deputy Leader of the Council Cllr Mair Rowlands, who leads on community safety, said: “Gwynedd is a safe place to live and we are fortunate that crime rates in the area are much lower compared to crime rates in large cities and towns.

“Nevertheless, it is important that we as a council, and other relevant authorities, are aware of any concerns residents may have and that we respond to any challenges quickly and effectively.

“It is important that the Community Safety Partnership understands the priorities of Gwynedd’s communities.

“Not every area is the same, and this consultation will make sure that we use the evidence in a targeted way and respond to the needs of the community. We are, therefore, eager to receive the opinion of as many of Gwynedd’s residents as possible.

“All the comments we receive will be carefully considered and will help us create a suitable plan for the year ahead.”

The Gwynedd and Anglesey Community Safety Partnership comprises Gwynedd Council, the Isle of Anglesey County Council, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Proba- tion Service, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and many other statutory and voluntary agencies. The questionnaire is available on the Council’s website at www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/consultations. Copies are also available at Siopau Gwynedd (Caernarfon, Dolgellau and Pwllheli) and libraries. The consultation is open until October 27.
