WI: The President welcomed 15 members to the January meeting. Members joined in a discussion about the newsletter and the forthcoming AGM to be held at the Town hall in Beaumaris on February 12. The President also talked about the forthcoming AFWI WI Show, to be held at the Town Hall in Llangefni on May 19 and encouraged all members to take an interest in the show schedule and try some of the competitions. Secretary Enid Bibby gave an insight into her hobby of sailing. Members took part in a sailing quiz and were also encouraged to sing along, accompanied by Beryl Ellis, sea shanties including ‘What shall we do with a drunkard sailor?’ Although Llanfairpwll was the first WI in the country, founded in 1915, the members are enthusiastic women who embrace the traditions of the WI but are not daunted by innovative technology. This friendly WI will ensure a warm welcome to any visitor, so why not try and come along to a meeting soon! GWYNGYLL WI: Next meeting will be at the WI Hall at 7.30 pm on Thurs, Feb 1, when Dr John Gorham will give advice on how to take better photographs. Visitors will be welcome.
