Hit man Beck is all right now

Bangor Mail - - BUSINESS -

CAERGYBI rattled up a magnificent seven to coast into the next round of the Anglesey League’s Megan Cup.

Under floodlights at Bangor City’s 3G pitch, the islanders romped to a 7-0 caning of Llandegfan last Saturday.

Goals on five and seven minutes from Ashley Beck put Caergybi two-up and the score remained the same up to half time.

Two minutes into the second half and Beck completed his hat-trick.

Richard Argyle added another on 50 minutes, then Gary Jo Owen made the scoresheet.

Owen was fouled in the box to give Caergybi a penalty, but the same player’s kick was well saved by man of the match for Llandegfan, keeper Hywel Hughes.

Beck notched his fourth on 80 minutes and Scott Pettersen struck again before the end.

The game was not as one-sided as the scoreline suggests, with Llandegfan always dangerous on the break. Their two speedy strikers Geraint Roberts and Callum Graves kept the Caergybi defence busy at times.

Arriva Bangor got past Pentraeth Reserves 4-1, Scott Hughes (2), Andy Clarke and Kyle Jones seeing the Busmen to victory, Jack Diamond replying.

Postponed: Llangoed and District Res v Bryngwran Bulls, Mynydd Tigers v Bodorgan.
