Hat-trick hero Wall now looking to Euro climb
HAT-TRICK star Luke Wall was named Bangor City’s man of the match against Penydarren.
As well as scoring three goals, the winger helped set up two others in his team’s 7-0 Welsh Cup quarter-final success.
Wall said: “I don’t really score that often, so I was over the moon to score three. It was their cup final, so it was important we got the win.”
Asked whether he or fellow treble-hitter Yves Zama would claim the match-ball, Wall said: “I think I’ll take it; Zama’s a striker but I’m a winger so I think I deserve it today.”
A former Blackburn Rovers trainee who signed a one-year professional deal with the Lancashire club ahead of the 2015/16 season, Liverpool-born Wall was released a year later and joined Accrington Stanley in July 2016. With first team opportunities limited at the Wham Stadium, he was loaned to Skelmersdale United, Clitheroe, and Marine in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League before his move to Bangor City in June 2017. Wall has impressed at Nantporth, netting eight goals so far this season. He is now looking forward to taking on Bala this weekend in a crucial battle in the race for Europe.
“It’s a big game,” he said. “We must get the three points. We’ve just got to play like we did today and we’ll give ourselves a great chance of three points.”
