Circuit season to start –

-

ANGLESEY Circuit’s motorcycle racing season begins this coming Sunday in its traditional manner with what promises to be a very busy Wirral 100 Motor Club meeting.

This is the first of four events the club will host at the circuit in 2018, and this will be their 26th season of racing at Trac Môn.

Hopes are that the weather is much kinder than it has been in recent weeks and that a good, safe and enjoyable meeting is had by all.

The race format will follow the Wirral 100’s well-tested ‘Racing for Sport’ formula, the intention being to give riders and spectators as much track action as possible in the time available.

Each class will have two races and at the end of the day, the Anglesey Senior and Junior Open races provide those wanting a third ride to compete again.

There is a broad a base of machinery on show, beginning with the club’s most popular class, Formula 600 and the modern and super-quick 1000cc Powerbikes, who are joined, for the second year, by Pre-2009 & Pre-Electronics Powerbikes, including GoldenEra Superbikes (pre-2001 750’s).

This is a combined class designed to encourage others with older machines and perhaps smaller budgets to join the fray.

The less powerful but still highly enjoyable 650 Twins share track time with Golden Era Supersport (pre-2001 600s), and then the small capacity catch-all class, the 100cc-500cc Allcomers.

The Pre-Injection class embraces anything over 500cc with a carburettor, whilst the Forgotten Era and Classic Bike classes cater for smaller and less modern machines.

Add the crazy world of Sidecars to the mix, and there is something for everyone.

The timekeeping and results service provided by TSL Sports Timing and its facility for live timing and its database of race results and each rider’s laptimes is free of charge to riders and spectators and is available at www.tsl-timing.com

The club acknowledges their race meetings would not take place without a dedicated band of officials, marshals and medics, and thank them sincerely for their invaluable enthusiasm and support.

Wirral 100 is always on the look-out to recruit motorcycle enthusiasts as new marshals. You must be aged over 15, male or female, no previous experience required; the club will ensure that all are suitably trained in the various safety aspects of marshalling.

Anyone interested should contact the club, either at the race meeting or via the website www.wirral100.co.uk

Adult admission to the event is just £10 and under-16s enter free of charge. No animals are permitted at the venue.
