Time to tear up the tarmac for first visit of the season

-

THIS Saturday and Sunday another superb mix of sprint and endurance racing hits the Anglesey Circuit tarmac for the first visit of the season by the British Racing & Sports Car Club’s North Western Centre.

The stars of Saturday’s show are the Fun Cup Championship with a double-header of three- hour endurance races. First racing action of the weekend will come from the Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge.

With the new classes welcoming Ford Fiesta ST150s as well as nonLSD equipped Fiesta XR2s, the usual eclectic mix of XR2s and Escort XR3is are sure to thrill. The gathering of the Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford 1600 Championship will see both Post ’89 and Pre 90 categories go headto-head.

The Northern Formula Fords are one of, if not the most competitive regional FF1600 contest of its kind in the UK and these races are set to produce fire- works. The Cox Motor Parts Civic Cup championship caters for all generations of the mighty Honda Civic Type R hot hatchback, and their fantastic appearance and sound offers the look and feel of a mini touring car championship.

In terms of sportscar racing, one of the best and most loved one-make championships of all time has to be the incredible TVR Tuscan Challenge. That series still lives on in 2018, albeit in its incarnation as the Dunlop TVR Challenge, which welcomes any and all TVR models to come and play.

There will be a handful of the mighty Tuscan Challenge cars in the field, along with an additional mix of Griffiths, Chimaeras and more.

Finally, to round off the weekend, something a little different - Superkarts! These are not your average racing go-karts, as their highly tuned engines and aerodynamic fairings and bodywork mean that cornering speeds and lap times need to be seen to be believed.
