Cancer charity opens its first ‘superstore’ in Wales

-

CANCER Research UK’s first superstore in Wales opened this week in Holyhead.

The superstore, which at 5,000 sq ft is more than five times the size of a normal Cancer Research UK shop, started trading last Tuesday.

Breast cancer survivor Jane Jones, from Anglesey, cut the ribbon to officially unveil the store in Holyhead Retail Park.

Due to the size of the shop, there will much more on offer, from bikes to books, furniture to electrical goods.

Unlike smaller shops, the superstore will run a discount model, meaning many items will be £3 or less, with high-value products identified with a golden ticket.

It’s part of a plan to meet customer demand for more accessible stores with easy access and plenty of parking.

A special private room in the superstore will offer people the chance to phone the Cancer Research UK nurse helpline and will include seating, an iPad and a large TV screen.

Ceri Seeley, from Anglesey, Cancer Research UK’s store manager at the Holyhead superstore, said: “We are very excited to be opening Cancer Research UK’s first Welsh superstore in Holyhead and we are grateful to Jane for being our VIP on the day, and opening the store.

“Having the extra space means we are able to offer supporters additional services, like the private information room with the nurses’ hotline so customers will have direct access to information from our team of dedicated nurses at Cancer Research UK.”

More volunteers are now needed to help run the new Holyhead superstore.

Anyone interested is invited to call in to the shop.
