Penrhyn open day and BBQ

Bangor Mail - - NEWS -

AN open day at Penrhyn this month will conclude with a BBQ and social evening to raise funds for Anglesey Show.

At 1pm on Saturday, June 23, Wyn and Gwen Williams will open the farm’s gates for an afternoon of activities.

These include a stockjudging competition and walk to see the holding’s reseeding work.

There will also be a chance to view a suckler herd that was described by Scottish beef producers Jennifer Hislop and June Dowie as the “best commercial herd” they’d ever seen.

From around 5pm, visitors can pay £10 to tuck into hog and lamb roasts. The island’s young farmers will also be running a bar, with proceeds from both activities going to the county show.

Both the open day and evening BBQ are open to all. “So, if farmers are busy in silaging in the afternoon, they can still call around in the evening,” said Wyn. “It should be a really good day.”
