New radio station is making waves
MôNFM, the community radio station for Anglesey and North West Wales, has been shortlisted in the annual Community Radio Awards.
The station has made the shortlist, which was whittled down from more than 360 entries from 77 stations from every corner of the UK.
The station has picked up nominations in the ‘Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year‘ for its work at the 2017 National Eisteddfod in Bodedern on the Isle of Anglesey and ‘Arts & Creative Radio of the Year’ for its coverage of Focus Wales in Wrexham.
Tony Wyn Jones, acting station Chairman, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work as a result of our presence in two of Wales’ prestigious events – every day, we are extremely proud and humbled to have the pleasure of working alongside so many dedicated and giving volunteers who spend their time helping charities, good causes and community projects.
The station spent the equivalent of more than a thousand volunteer hours broadcasting last year, and one busy period involved 15 days back-to-back over three events attended by hundreds of thousands.
Martin Steers, awards committee chair, said: “We’re really able to show off the diverse broadcasting that the stations undertake.”
