Man charged af­ter in­ci­dent on bridge

A MAN has been charged with a num­ber of of­fences in con­nec­tion with an in­ci­dent which saw the clo­sure of the Menai Bridge.

The 31-year-old was set to ap­pear be­fore mag­is­trates this week af­ter be­ing ar­rested by of­fi­cers following an in­ci­dent on the bridge on Satur­day af­ter­noon.

The bridge had to be closed for more than an hour due to the in­ci­dent.

Chief su­per­in­ten­dent Neil Har­ri­son, of North Wales Police, said: “Following an in­ci­dent on Menai Bridge which re­sulted in clo­sure of the Bridge, a 31-year-old male has been charged with a num­ber of of­fences, in­clud­ing be­ing a pub­lic nui­sance and will ap­pear in court.”

Police were forced to close the im­por­tant route on Satur­day af­ter­noon due to the in­ci­dent. Traf­fic was di­verted to the Bri­tan­nia Bridge as a re­sult of the in­ci­dent, lead­ing to long de­lays for mo­torists.

The RNLI were also re­quired to at­tend the in­ci­dent.
