Anglesey teams happy to have home comforts

- Dave Jones

ANGLESEY clubs Llangefni Town and Bodedern Athletic have both landed home draws in the last 32 of the national FAW Trophy.

Cefni will host Brymbo and Boded entertain Chirk AAA on November 24.

The island pair completed 6-0 wins apiece in third round action last Saturday.

Cefni swept aside Penycae of the Welsh National League Premier Division, while Boded whipped fellow Welsh Alliance Division One team Llandyrnog United.

A hat-trick from Kevin Lloyd helped Llangefni demolish Penycae at Lon Talwrn.

It took 36 minutes for Lloyd to open the scoring, running on to a through ball to chip the keeper.

A few minutes later it was 2-0. A half-cleared corner fell to the feet of Callum Mcminimee, whose 20 yard shot flew into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. Early in the second half a great diagonal ball came to Paul Rowlands wide on the right. His cross found James Saxon whose excellent shot smashed against the crossbar and Liam Morris pounced to volley in the rebound.

Morris created the fourth, his cross enabling Lloyd to bang home his second from 12 yards.

On 81 minutes, Sean Pritchard fed Iwan Jones, whose pass picked out Cai Powell Roberts on the right. His deep cross arrived to Mcminimee and he fired in off the post.

And it was hat-trick hero Lloyd who finished the proceedings, scoring from the spot with only two minutes remaining on the clock.

It was a 12th straight win for Cefni, who are now unbeaten in all competitions across 13 matches this season.

This Saturday they are home again - this will be their ninth successive match in a row at Lon Talwrn in a run of 13 with their only scheduled away game since the end of August being postponed - when they host Llanberis in the Mawddach Challenge Cup (2.30pm).

Bodedern are in great form and there was no way they were going to let Llandyrnog spoil their Tro- phy dreams. Ricky Jones and Aidan Clarke scored two apiece for Ricky Williams’ side, James Burgess and Richard Williams adding a goal apiece.

Boded will go top of Division One on goal difference ahead of Llangefni this Saturday if they win at Llandyrnog - the team they caned 6-0 at Cae Ty Cristion in the Trophy last weekend.

Mynydd Llandegai made the long trip to Llansantffraid Village of the Mid-Wales League in the Tro- Picture: DAI SINCLAIR phy and came away with a hardfought 3-2 win.

Craig Whelan (2) and Iwan Morris ensured Welsh Alliance Division One side Mynydd advanced to the next stage of the competition, where a trip to dynamic Wrexham outfit Plas Madoc awaits.
